Three Peak House

The "Three Peak House" is inspired by the dual meaning behind the word "peak", referencing either mountains or waves and reinforcing the idea that the house would be comfortable in either a country or coastal setting. The "Three Peak" concept is reflected in the three roof gables, defined by their purpose: eating, lounging, sleeping.

The concept is expressed via an elegant and linear design.

"Three Peak House" is modestly sized, yet feels generous and lofty. The design is highly flexible and can be expanded if desired. A generous outdoor terrace connects directly with the kitchen and living spaces, encouraging an easy flow for socialising. There are window seats throughout the spaces, which allow one to experience the landscape whilst feeling warm and cosy. The ensuite adjoins a private courtyard where you can bathe and feel immersed in nature. To emphasise the sense of ease and relaxation, there is a sunken lounge with a fire, for retreating to on a winter's day, or relaxing by in the evening.

The house is designed to be as flexible as possible and could, equally, sit comfortably in an expansive country site, such as a vineyard, or fit on a narrow block. It is built from bricks which are non-combustible and have no ongoing maintenance, suitable to a rural block which may have a bushfire overlay.

Introducing Andy Wong, Architect

Andy Wong has a passion for quality residential architecture. He brings to Ruum over twenty years of design experience with John Wardle Architects, having worked on numerous award-winning country and city homes, before commencing his own practice.

Andy admires that the Ruum model makes quality architecture more accessible, delivered via a carefully controlled process that is more time and cost efficient. In Andy's words, "I'm very excited by the Ruum Escape Collection. It is a unique opportunity to collaborate with Ruum, a team of talented architects and a high quality residential builder. I also like the idea that a considered and successful design outcome can reach a wider audience, whilst still being unique and of a limited edition."

“I'm very keen on bringing the idea of relaxation to the Ruum collection. The house layout is highly functional, and well zoned, but the atmosphere is one of relaxation. A number of gentle curves soften the interiors. The interiors incorporate warm and lofty timber ceilings”. Andy looks forward to contributing a design to the Ruum collection that is light-filled, sustainable and joyful.

Three Peak Core is the streamlined sibling of the original Ruum Three Peak House. Some modifications have been made to the floorplan to reduce the overall length of the house, while not sacrificing the width.

The pergola has been removed and the second formal entry has been removed.

A different feature brick has been selected, while still maintaining the intent behind the original distinctive contrasting colour scheme (the external appearance may differ slightly from the original renders).
